Crochet Pattern: Nyan Cat

Calling all Nyan Cat lovers, here’s the pattern of my Amigurumi Nyan Cat. Feel free to ask me any questions. Comments are welcome too. I would LOVE to see pictures of your work(s) using my patterns. Materials:

Yarn(s) - I used Light Yellow, Pink and Gray 8ply Acrylic Yarn.
Crochet Hook - Size 3.0mm
Yarn Needle or Normal Needle
Yellow and Pink Thread.
Fiberfill
2 of 8mm Safety Eyes.
Stitch Marker or Safety Pin

Note:

Patterns for Outer Body and Inner Body work in rows.
Patterns for Head, Tail and Legs work in continuous rounds.(instead of joined rounds)

Abbreviation:

MR - Magic Ring
sc - Single Crochet
2 sc in next sc - Increase
dec 1 - Decrease
Ch - Chain
* * - Repeat Step
F/O - Fasten Off

Outer Body: Make 2

Use Light Yellow Yarn.

Ch 21. Make sure the Ch is not twisted.

Row 1-29: sc in each sc across. Ch 1 and turn. (20)

Row 30: sc in each sc across. (20)

After completing Row 30, sc evenly around the outer layer of the rectangle.

F/O and weave in the ends.

Inner Body:

Use Pink Yarn.

Ch 13. Make sure the Ch is not twisted.

Row 1-21: sc in each sc across. Ch 1 and turn. (12)

Row 22: sc in each sc across. (12)

After completing Row 22, sc evenly around the outer layer of the rectangle.

F/O and weave in the ends.

Ears: Make 2

Use Gray Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 in MR. (4)

Rnd 2: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc*, repeat around. (6)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, 2 sc*, repeat around. (8)

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, 3 sc*, repeat around. (10)

Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, 4 sc*, repeat around. (12)

F/O and weave in the ends.

Do not stuff.

Head:

Use Gray Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc 4*, repeat around. (36)

Rnd 7-11: sc around. (36)

Rnd 12: *sc 4, dec 1*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 13: *sc 3, dec 1*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 14: *sc 2, dec 1*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 15: sc around. (18)

Sew on the ears.

Add safety eyes.

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 16: *sc 1, dec 1*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 17: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)

Add on fiberfill to stuff the entire head.

F/O, leave a long end and sew up the hole.

Legs: Make 4

Use Gray Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc 2*, repeat around. (16)

Rnd 4-10: sc around. (16)

Stuff abit of fiberfill just at the bottom of the legs.

F/O and weave in the ends.

Tail:

Use Gray Yarn.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3-12: sc around. (12)

F/O and weave in the ends.

Do not stuff.

Assembling: (Refer to picture)

Sew on the Inner body (pink) to Front part of Outer Body.
Sew on Tail to the Front part of Outer Body.
Sew on the legs to the bottom Back part of Outer Body. (Overlap the placement of legs)
Sew on the head to Front Part of Outer Body.
Sew Front part of Outer Body to Back part of Outer Body. (Leave sufficient gap to stuff in fiberfill before sewing up the whole body.)

Optional: (Additional stuff to add to your Nyan Cat)

You can cut out dark pink felt and glue them to the cheeks.
You can sew on black yarn to make the smile of the cat.
You can also sew on dark pink dots on the inner body to create the dots.
Crochet a little rainbow and attach it near the tail area of the cat.

And Congratulations, your Nyan Cat is complete!
