Crochet Pattern: The Reversible Expressions Animal Series

This is “Little yarn friends” Reversible Expressions Animal Series featuring Lil’ Puppy Blu, Lil’ Green Kitty and Lil’ Pink Bunny. As mentioned in my Blog Post, this Creation is to help raise awareness for SPCA (Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in hope to provide all pets and animals a good home and a better life. I would love to share this adorable and meaningful creation to anyone who is interested in making one for yourself to keep, to make it as a gift for your loved ones or simply to spread the love for animals and to stop animal cruelty.

The fun part of this Amigurumi Project is you get to design not just one but TWO expressions for your little animal friends, switch the faces around and make them come alive!

Materials:

Yarn(s) - White, Light Blue, Light Green and Light Pink 8ply Acrylic Yarn.
Crochet Hooks - Size 3.5mm and 3.0mm
Yarn Needle or Normal Needle
Light Blue, Light Green and Light Pink Thread or Yarn for the nose.
Fiberfill
1 pair of 10mm Safety Eyes. If you’re making all 3 animals, you’ll need 3 pairs of Safety Eyes.
Small amount of White and Red Felt.
Fabric Glue.
Stitch Marker or Safety Pin

Note:

This pattern works in continuous rounds (instead of joined rounds).
Patterns for all 3 Animals are the same except for the Ears.

Abbreviation:

MR - Magic Ring
sc - Single Crochet
2 sc in next sc - Increase
dec 1 - Decrease
Ch - Chain
Sl St - Slip Stitch
* * - Repeat Step
F/O - Fasten Off

Inner Head: (Face)

Use White Yarn and 3.0mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc 4*, repeat around. (36)

Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc 5*, repeat around. (42)

Rnd 8-15: sc around. (42)

Rnd 16: *dec 1, sc 5*, repeat around. (36)

Rnd 17: *dec 1, sc 4*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 18: *dec 1, sc 3*, repeat around. (24)

Insert safety eyes. (Or you can choose to sew on eyes after.)

Rnd 19: *dec 1, sc 2*, repeat around. (18)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 20: *dec 1, sc 1*, repeat around. (12)

Add on fiberfill to stuff the entire head.

Rnd 21: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)

F/O and sew up the hole.

Outer Head:

Use White Yarn and 3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1-14: Same as Inner Head pattern (refer to top).

Rnd 15: *dec 1, sc 5*, repeat around. (36)

Sl St, F/O and weave in the ends.

Body:

Use White Yarn and 3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 5-6: sc around. (24)

Rnd 7: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (30)

Rnd 8-12: sc around. (30)

Rnd 13: *dec 1, sc 3*, repeat around. (24)

Rnd 14: *dec 1, sc 2*, repeat around. (18)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 15: *dec 1, sc 1*, repeat around. (12)

Add on fiberfill to stuff the entire body.

Rnd 16: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)

F/O and leave long end for sewing to Outer Head.

Arms: (make 2) per animal

For Lil’ Puppy Blu: Use Light Blue Yarn.

For Lil’ Green Kitty: Use Light Green Yarn.

For Lil’ Pink Kitty: Use Pink Yarn

3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2-7: sc around. (6)

F/O and leave long end for sewing to Body.

Stuff fiberfill but do not over stuff.

Legs: (make 2) per animal

For Lil’ Puppy Blu: Use Light Blue Yarn.

For Lil’ Green Kitty: Use Light Green Yarn.

For Lil’ Pink Kitty: Use Pink Yarn

3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3-6: sc around. (12)

Rnd 7: *dec 1, sc 1* repeat around. (8)

Start stuffing with fiberfill.

Rnd 8: 1 dec, sc around. (7)

Stuff remaining legs with fiberfill.

Rnd 9: 1 dec, sc around. (6)

F/O and leave long end for sewing to Body.

Lil’ Puppy Blu Ears: (make 2)

Use Light Blue Yarn and 3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (9)

Rnd 3: sc around. (9)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (15)

Rnd 6-14: sc around. (15)

F/O and weave the ends in and out to fatten and close up the hole on top of the ear.

Do not stuff.

Lil’ Green Kitty Ears: (make 2)

Use Light Green Yarn and 3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 in MR. (4)

Rnd 2: *2 sc in next sc, sc 1*, repeat around. (6)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc 2*, repeat around. (8)

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc 3*, repeat around. (10)

Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, sc 4*, repeat around. (12)

Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc 5*, repeat around. (14)

Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc 6*, repeat around. (16)

Rnd 8: *2 sc in next sc, sc 7*, repeat around. (18)

Rnd 9: *2 sc in next sc, sc 8*, repeat around. (20)

F/O and leave long end for sewing to Outer Head.

Stuff ears with fiberfill.

Lil’ Pink Bunny: (make 2)

Use Light Pink Yarn and 3.5mm Hook.

Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)

Rnd 3-22: sc around. (12)

F/O and weave the ends in and out to fatten and close up the hole on top of the ear.

Do not stuff.

Assembling: (Refer to picture)

Use matching thread colors, sew ears to outer head.
Sew outer head to body.
Sew both arms and legs to body.
Using small amount of red felt, cut a little heart shape and fabric glue on the left chest. (where the heart is)
You can choose to add on little paws by cutting out 8 little oval shapes and 2 slightly bigger oval shapes and fabric glue them on the bottom of the feet. (4 little oval shapes and 1 slightly bigger oval shape on each feet)
Lastly, the most exciting part is to decorate your animal facial expressions (both front and back) on inner head.
Using white felt, cut an oval shape, sew the nose on white felt using matching color thread or yarn.
Sew on the eyebrows on inner head to enhance the expressions.

Note: You can decide on what facial expressions you want to make for your little animals. These are just guidelines of how i’ve made mine. You can choose to use embroidery eyes, wiggly eyes etc. Get creative and make your unique Reversible expressions animal amigurumi.
