Lil’ Piggy Cupcake

Lil’ Piggy Cupcake is a custom request from Bani, a very dear and sweet friend of mine. I had a text from Bani about 2 weeks ago saying that she adores all my little yarn friends and was hoping that I could make a little gift for her colleague that has been feeling down lately. What a sweet and thoughtful friend! :) Bani mentioned that her favorite color is purple and she love pigs and cupcakes. The thought of making a purple pig cupcake came into my mind right away as it is the combination of all the things she likes. That’s the story of how Lil’ Piggy Cupcake was born in a nutshell.

The following pictures shows 2 fellow cupcake besties preparing a little surprise for Lil’ Piggy Cupcake’s new friend (and owner). Enjoy!

“Say cheeseeeee.”

It’s about time for the 2 besties to part as Lil’ Piggy Cupcake has an important mission on hand. *Big hugs and big hearts*

I met up with Bani last Saturday to pass Lil’ Piggy Cupcake to her. She was really happy and pleased. She showed Lil’ Piggy Cupcake to some of her friends and they all loved her, saying that they will want to some little yarn friends for themselves too. I’m really happy and excited to see littleyarnfriends’ family slowly expanding and growing, sending cuteness and happiness to different people across the world. Lil’ Piggy Cupcake is currently sitting happily on Bani colleague’s desk, sending happy smiles and positive energy to her everyday.

“You did a great job Lil’ Piggy Cupcake. We are really proud of you.” From littleyarnfriends family. Another Mission accomplished!

Sharing some Work-In-Progress Pictures with you.

Here is a collage of the various parts, piggy’s head, ears and arms in pink, the frosting in greyish-purple and the cake in dark purple. This was a pretty simple project since I’ve attempted making a cupcake animal before. I used Lil’ Bunny Cupcake pattern and tweaked it a little. Bani mentioned that she wanted the size to be approximately 5 inches, a nice fit on the office desk. So i made Lil’ Piggy Cupcake slightly bigger as compared to Lil’ Bunny.

I sewed the ears and arms onto Lil’ Piggy’s head before attaching her to the frosting using pink tapestry thread.

Then, I sewed the frosting onto the cake. After sewing 3/4 of the frosting, I stuffed fiberfill and sewed up the rest of the hole. The final step was to add on Lil’ Piggy eyes and nose. I cut 2 small holes where the eyes will be placed and stick the eyes onto the face using fabric glue. For the nose, using a pink felt, i cut an oval shape and embroidered 2 vertical lines onto the pink oval felt using purple tapestry thread and stick it onto the face with fabric glue.

Here’s Lil’ Piggy Cupcake on my hand.

And here’s a lovely picture of the 2 best cupcake friends. Hope you enjoyed a little dose of cupcake happiness.
