Crochet Pattern: Lil’ Piggy Cupcake

Calling all cupcake and piggy lovers! You might not want to miss this. Make this Lil’ Piggy Cupcake as a treat for yourself, as a gift for your loved ones or as an additional sovenior to go along with a box of yummy cupcakes. This Lil’ Piggy Cupcake is approximately 10.5cm x 9.5cm, a good size to place on your desk, your car, anywhere! Hope you’ll enjoy this little treat of crochet and cupcake goodness. Materials:

  • Yarn(s) - Pink, Dark Purple and Grayish Purple 8ply Acrylic Yarn. 
  • Crochet Hook - Size 3.0mm.
  • Yarn Needle
  • Tapestry Needle 
  • Purple Tapestry Thread.
  • Fiberfill
  • 2 of 8mm Safety Eyes
  • Stitch Marker or Safety Pin
  • Small Piece of Pink Felt
  • Fabric Glue
  • 1 Small Purple Ribbon (or other additional accessories)
Note: This pattern works in continuous rounds (instead of joined rounds).

Abbreviation:

  • MR - Magic Ring
  • sc - Single Crochet
  • hdc - Half Double Crochet
  • dc - Double Crochet
  • 2 sc in next sc - Increase 
  • dec 1 - Decrease
  • sl st - Slip Stitch 
  • * * - Repeat Step
  • F/O - Fasten Off
Frosting:
Grayish-Purple Yarn.
Rnd 1: MR, sc 6 in MR. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12)
Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (18)
Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (24)
Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (30)
Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc 4*, repeat around. (36)
Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc 5*, repeat around. (42)
Rnd 8: *sc 6, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (48)
Rnd 9: *sc 7, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (54)
Rnd 10: sc around. (54)
Rnd 11: *sc 1, (hdc,dc,hdc) on same stitch, sc 1 on next sc* repeat around.
sl st, F/O and weave in the end.

Cake:
Dark Purple Yarn. 
Rnd 1-8: Same as Frosting pattern (refer to top).
Rnd 9-13: sc around. (48)
Rnd 14: *sc 7, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (54)
Rnd 15: sc around. (54)
sl st, F/O and weave in the end.

Piggy Head:
Pink Yarn.
Rnd 1-7: Same as Cake pattern (refer to top).
Rnd 8-12: sc around. (42)
Rnd 13: *dec 1, sc 5*, repeat around. (36)
Rnd 14: *dec 1, sc 4*, repeat around. (30)
Rnd 15: *dec 1, sc 3*, repeat around. (24)
Insert the safety eyes.
Rnd 16: *dec 1, sc 2*, repeat around. (18)
Start stuffing fiberfill.
Rnd 17: *sc 1, dec 1*, repeat around. (12)
Add on fiberfill to stuff the entire head.
Rnd 18: *dec 1*, repeat around. (6)
F/O and leave long end for sewing to Frosting. 

Piggy Ear(s): Make 2
Pink Yarn.
Rnd 1: MR, sc 3 in MR. (3)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (6)
Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (9)
Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around. (12)
Rnd 5: sc around. (12)
F/O and leave long end for sewing to Piggy Head.
Stuff fiberfill to ear, but do not over stuff.

Piggy Arms: Make 2
Pink Yarn.
Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 in MR. (4)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (8)
Rnd 3-5: sc around. (8)
F/O and leave long end for sewing to Piggy Head.
Stuff fiberfill to arms. 

Assembling: (Refer to picture)
  • For the Piggy Nose, using the small piece of pink felt, cut an oval.
  • Use purple tapestry thread to embroider 2 vertical lines onto the pink oval felt.
  • Use fabric glue to stick Piggy Nose to Piggy Head.
  • Sew the Piggy Ears to Top of Piggy Head.
  • Sew the Piggy Arms to the side of the Piggy Head.
  • Sew the Piggy to the Frosting.
  • Sew 3/4 of the Cake to Frosting, stuff firmly and sew the rest. 
  • Add on your own accessories to your piggy cupcake (e.g. Ribbon, Flower, Cherry)
